Hi, my name is Dylan Sutton and I’m 22 years old.
I started tattooing on Christmas day 2015, when I received my first tattoo machine, I tattooed my Ma’s name on my own leg that very night!! From that moment onwards I became obsessed with tattooing, I just wanted to keep going and so I dropped out of College in NCAD where I was studying Jewellery Design.
I searched endlessly for a mentor or apprenticeship to teach me, I was shunned by many and told twice that I would never become a tattoo artist. I soon began to teach myself at home after months of no progress.
My work is inspired by 3D geometrics, dot work and decorative ornamental line work. I was drawn towards these styles of tattooing because I think its different. I admire works of art that contain optical illusions, that stimulate the brain, much like the work of MC escher, who is a big inspiration to me. For those interested in my style of work, I create each piece unique to you, I look forward to hearing your ideas for tattoos.
Im am so happy to be part of the Colour Works team. It has always been one of my favourite studios and in my eyes a platform for the highest quality Neo-Trad in Dublin, and so I am humbled to work alongside artists I have looked up to over the past 2 years. I am excited for the future, to grow and develop and in what I can learn here in Colour Works.
